A great victory for Marvin Sonsona of the Philippines for defeating the boxing champ of Japan, Akifumi hSimoda. Marvin Sonsona wins the fight via knockout. Simoda fell on the ground after he was hit by a strong punch from Sonsona during the third round and the fight ends there. Their fight was held at Cotai Arena of the plush Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino in Macau last Saturday, February 22, 2014.
Aside from Sonsona there were two Filipino boxers who also won their respective fights against their opponents. Harmonito De La Torre (Super Featherweight ) won against Yakobus Heluka of Indonesia and Jerwin Ancajas (Super flyweight) against Inthanon Sitchamuang of Thailand.
So it was a big win for the Philippines.
